Question

FL Notary, $10, 500 1099-NEC. I reported that amount under the income. Only $3,250 of that amount s/b reported as self employed income. Can this be adjusted in Turbotax?

- I report the full amount made on the federal income tax.
- I get to deduct my notary stamps from the fees charged when reporting self employment income.
- I dont see in Turbotax how to separate the two. I called Turbotoax but, the agent was unable to assist.

Fees for services you provide as a notary public are not subject to self-employment tax.

In TurboTax, enter your form 1099-NEC normally.

After entering that form:

  1. In the Search box on the top right of your screen, enter notary fees, se tax and click on the magnifying glass icon
  2. In the search result box, click on Jump to notary fees, se tax
  3. TurboTax will take you directly to the page where you can make adjustments to exclude your notary fees from self-employment tax.
