Question

Hi! Can someone tell me if I need to file in another state if I received a 1099-NEC from another state? Nothing was with held on my 1099-NEC.

I live on the west coast and file there. The contract work I did was for a company in Texas (no income tax). But the 1099-NEC was issued from the mid-west for some reason. Nothing was withheld on the form. Thanks!

The work was performed in Texas (which does not have a personal income tax).  Just because the 1099-NEC was issued from another state does not mean that you have to pay taxes to that state since no work was performed in that state.
