If you are self-employed, you may not get a refund unless you have credits or made estimated payments. You must pay 15.3% social security and medicare taxes on top of any federal income tax.

We offer the option to deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal (not state) refund. This option is called Pay With My Refund (also known as Refund Processing Service).

To qualify for this payment option:

  • Your federal refund must be sufficient to cover your TurboTax fees
  • You'll need to e-file
  • Your address cannot be foreign
  • Form 8888 can't be on your return

To pay with your refund:

  1. With your return open, select File from the side menu
  2. On the Just...more step screen, select Start or Revisit for the first step
  3. When asked How would you like to pay for TurboTax?, select Pay with Federal Refund
