The following TurboTax products support Royalty Income:

  • TurboTax Online Premier and Self-Employed
  • TurboTax CD\Download Deluxe, Premier and Home & Business

To enter royalty income so it is not self-employed income, follow these instructions:

  1. Open TurboTax.
  2. Select Pick up where you left off.
  3. Type royalty income in the search bar and click search.
  4. Click on Jump to royalty income.
  5. On the What are you here to report? screen, select Royalty and Continue.
  6. Continue with the onscreen interview until complete.

Investment income from property you own is for natural resources extracted from your property by a third party who leases your property. It also includes royalties from intellectual property if you didn't create the intellectual property yourself. This will go on Schedule E.
