how do i change from self employed to 1040 individual not giving me the option

If you wish to change, you will need to clear and start over. To start over, go to tools>clear and start over. Once you are there, you can choose which program you need or start for free. As you progress through the return, you will be asked to upgrade depending on the type of forms you are entering into your return.

Self-Employed is a software version used to enter self-employment income and prepare a Schedule C.    Even if you use that version you will be preparing a Form 1040.   Everyone's tax return is on a Form 1040.

 

If you want to clear out the self-employed software version and downgrade to a less expensive version like Premier or Deluxe you can do that but you will still be using a Form 1040 no matter what.

 

 

A 1040 is the tax return form you prepare here to send to the IRS.   If you start entering data in this software you are preparing a Form 1040.   Please look at it so you will know what you are sending to the IRS:

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
