How do I report New York State paid family leave issued as 1099-Misc? Can I really report it in Less Common Income although I wasn't issued 1099-C?

If you received a 1099-MISC for Paid Family Leave, rather than a 1099-G, here is how you would report it:

1. Open or continue your return.
2. Navigate to the 1099-MISC section:
   • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to 1099-MISC.
   • TurboTax Desktop: Search for 1099-misc and select the Jump to link
3. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-MISC?
   • If you already entered a 1099-MISC, on the 1099-MISC Summary screen select Add another 1099-MISC.
4. Enter the info from your form into the corresponding boxes.
   • If you need to enter boxes 4–6 or 8–17, select My form has other info in boxes 1–18 to expand the form.
5. Then, answer the following questions for this one-time payment.
   1. Does one of these uncommon situations apply?, Check None of these apply and Continue
   2. Did the __  involve work that's like your main job?, Check, No, it didn't involve work like my main job and Continue.
   3. How often did you get income for __?. I got it in 2024 and Continue.
   4. Did the __ involve an intent to earn money, Check, No, it didn't involve an intent to earn money. Click Continue.

If you follow the above instructions, this will be reported on Line 8z (Other Income) of Schedule 1 and flow to your 1040, Line 8.
