How do you report income from a company that paid you and issued a 1099 -NEC? The only thing I see is Self Employment for that - Very confusing

This is so confusng  There is no place to report this.  This IS NOT my bsuiness I did you work for a Research Company

Because this was compensation for services performed, you are considered self-employed with respect to this income.  You would report the income on schedule C (Self-employment) and pay income tax and self-employment tax.  Your business name can be your own name, your tax ID is your own SSN.
