No. Per the Schedule C 1040 instructions, if you do not have an EIN, leave line D blank. You need an EIN only if you have a qualified retirement plan or are required to file employment, excise, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms returns, or are a payer of gambling winnings.
In addition, on the page titled Your Info, in your Schedule C, you will see at the bottom of the page that it states having no EIN is normal. You should not be asked for an EIN.
