Question

I did an internship at University of South Dakota and got an income of $7,000 from them. I was given a 1099-NEC form but I havent seen anywhere on here to put that?

You will enter the 1099-NEC and then the program will make you link it to a Schedule C. It will be treated as Self-Employment income. 

You can claim expenses if you had any. 

You will need to pay Self-Employment tax which is FICA (Social Security). That tax is collected on (is part of) your tax return.

Form 1099-NEC stands for Non-Employee Compensation which signals Self-Employed to the IRS. 

You will need to upgrade to Self-Employed Online or Home and Business Desktop. 

Depending on your income, you might be able to use IRS Free File instead.
