Question

I didn't make enough to receive a 1099-K. I know I still need to claim the $1,462.00 I did make, how/what form do I use to file/claim that self employed income?

You will enter your income on Schedule C Business Income and Expenses, which is the form used for self-employment income and expenses.

Since you did not receive a Form 1099-K, just enter the income as 'cash'.  Be sure to keep your own records showing the income that you made.

Use the following steps to get started:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “schedule c” and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to schedule c
  • Click on the blue “Jump to schedule c” link
