Question

I filed for 2021 as self-employed but in 2022 most of my income will be from social security. How should I file?

File the same way as last year.  You will get a SSA-1099 from SS to enter into your tax return.

Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

Married Filing Separately: 0

You say "most" of your income will be from SS, which suggests also that you will have income from some other source(s).   If you have even $400 of self-employment income you still need online Self-Employed, or any version of the CD/download so that you can prepare a Schedule C.   Or you might be able to use the IRS Free File site this year:

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site
