Question

I have a 1099 misc for interest paid on a personal loan when I report this it keeps wanting self-employment tax I didn't work how to I correct this.

The simplest way to report it is using the steps below.  This is not self employment income, and therefore you may want to delete the entry you already made. 

 

Other Miscellaneous Income:

 

Go to the Wages and Income  section of TurboTax

  1. Scroll to  Less Common Income > Select  Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  2. Select Other reportable Income > Enter a description (----) and the amount
