I have a 1099-NEC but it is not employee related but rather a grant. How do I apply this to my tax return?

In order to enter your 1099-NEC grant  you can follow these steps:

1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax
2. Search for grants and select the Jump to link at the top of the search results
3. Answer Yes on the Did you have any of these types of income? screen
4. Answer the question about state and local refunds and continue
5. Answer Yes on the Did you get a 1099-NEC? screen
6. Add the info from your 1099-NEC and Continue
7. Describe your grant with the name or type of grant you received and Continue
8. On the Does one of these uncommon situations apply? screen, choose This is not money earned as an employee or self-employed individual, it is from a sporadic activity or hobby (this is not common).
9. Continue and proceed with the rest of your return entries
