I have a 1099-NEC form from 2023 the one provided by the payer has earned wages and no federal tax withheld, however when I view my w2s on IRS.gov the same 1099-NEC diff

the exact same form on irs.gov is different it has this amount in the federal tax withheld box. should I amend?

    What amount is in the federal tax withheld?  The same amount that was your payments received or it reports that you had taxes withheld on the amount they paid you?  Having taxes withheld on an amount they paid you on a 099-NEC would not be common.

     

    No.  In general, if you filed the form exactly as it appeared in your hands and all the information was correct, you would not need to amend.  However, you can contact the IRS to be sure that taxes were not inadvertently withheld or reported or find out how to get the transcript updated and corrected.
