I'm trying to file a 1099 Misc for my native-american percapita checks. It thinks I'm self-employed and wants a "schedule c" but I don't have that. Help please? :)

Native American per capita income reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC should be reported on line 8z of the Schedule 1 Additional Income and Adjustments to Income and line 8 of the Federal 1040 tax return.
Follow the steps below to report this income that is not reported as self-employment income.
Select Federal from the left side menu.
Click on Wages & Income.
Scroll down to Less Common Income. Click Show more.
Click Start / Revisit to the right of Miscellaneous income….
Click Start / Revisit to the right of Other reportable income.
At the screen Other Taxable Income enter the description of the income such as Native American Distribution.
View the entries at Tax Tools / Print Center / Print, save or preview this year's return / Include government and TurboTax worksheets.
Same thing happens to my wife every year we file the taxes and then we get held up and they sent us a letter asking for a W-2 or proof of the income, which is the initial 1099 paperwork that we sent in in the first place, nothing changes every year same old stuff And nobody can figure out why this is .!?
It's possible there is a disconnect at the IRS between the copy of Form 1099-MISC they receive and the way you report that income. Your best option is to expect a follow up letter and have your response ready. As long as it doesn't affect your tax liability, you can continue to enter this income as you have.
In case this process is holding up your tax refund (if any), adjust your withholding so that you don't overpay income taxes. A small tax due balance is a good goal for withholding.
