Question

I make reels on Instagram, and this past year I started making a few $50-$100 a month with them. I got a 1099-MISC. Is this considered self employment?

It's just a reels bonus, so not sure how to file it. I put it under my 1099-MISC, but TurboTax is pulling it as Self Employment. Help!

Yes, you would be considered self-employed and file a Schedule C.  You may also enter any expenses related to earning this income. You do not have to carry on regular full-time business activities to be considered self-employed.

To file a Schedule C, here are the steps:

Sign in to your account and select Pick up where you left off

At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in schedule C and Enter

Select Jump to schedule C

Follow prompts, you might be prompted to an upgrade if you have expenses
