Question

I never received a 1099 as a self employed contractor from a business. Can I still file my taxes without the 1099?

Yes.  While we do not know how much you earned, there is no requirement to issue a 1099-Misc if the amount paid was less than $600.  However, even though a payor is not required to issue a 1099-Misc if the amount paid was less than $600, some payors will still issue one.

Whether you were paid less than $600 or more, even though you have not yet received a 1099, the income you received still needs to be reported on your return.
