Question

I received a 1099 NEC that only shows payments through end of December. How do I add payment in January for work performed in December?

It depends. Most people that are self-employed use a cash basis system accounting system. This means if you get paid in January, then this payment will be issued on next year's 1099-NEC because you received the payment in January, not December.
