I was self employed while in the USA but moved to Japan in October 2021 for a full-time salaried position. Does this mean my taxes are not "simple"?

Your tax return is not "simple" but can be handled by TurboTax.

If you are a US citizen or resident, you have to report your worldwide income.

You will report your self-employment income just as you did in previous years.

You will also report your salary in Japan as foreign earned income and TurboTax can guide you in doing this.
