If I have a form 1099-MISC is that the same as a 1099-K ?

When I file do I just put it as a 1099-k? Is what I mean.

No.

If you have Form 1099-MISC, enter it as a 1099-MISC. 

If you have Form 1099-K, enter it as a 1099-K.

 

Sometimes both forms can report similar income, but not always, and the IRS will look for the form reported on your 1040 the same way it was issued. (The IRS gets a copy of those forms)

 

If this is Self-Employment income, enter it under Self-Employment income for TurboTax Home and Business.

If you are using a lower version of TurboTax, enter under Business Items, Business Income and Expenses. (Online programs may have Self-Employment under Wages & Income. 

 

If you have BOTH a 1099-MISC and 1099-K and they BOTH report the same income

or

you have a 1099-MISC and it reports something other than self-employment income,
