Question

If my tax statement says that I have a $105 self employment tax, then why did the IRS only take $90?

Clarification....The IRS took $90 from where?

My bank account via direct deposit. The agency that I freelance for sent my 1099 after I originally filed my taxes. I had to amend it to add my 1099 document and the amount at the top left hand corner of the screen calculated that I owed the IRS $90. So, I set it up to pay them via direct deposit. But when I downloaded my tax return that I had just filed, in the "Additional Taxes" section, for the self employment tax on line 4 it shows $105.

In the Refund Section, it shows "The Amount I I Owe" or the amount I payed the IRS ($90)... I'm just wondering why that is?

If you did not report additional Federal tax withholding, you may have qualified for an additional tax credit that offset the additional tax of $105.  There are cases where the Earned Income Tax Credit can go up as income goes up.
