Independent Contractors and temporary living expenses - what can be deducted?

I am an independent contractor, doing project work across the country.  Right now I'm spending a lot of time in Virginia working for several clients.  My home state is Colorado and that is where I have a home, cars and where I get paid.  Can I deduct temporary living expenses when I have extended stays in Virginia and pay monthly for a place?

Yes. But understand the IRS defines temporary as "less than a year". So if you are there for 365 days, that's a full year and is not considered temporary.
