It depends. Was your 1099-NEC related to self-employment? In other words, are you in business for yourself. if you are self-employed, then go to Income & Expenses and scroll down to Self-Employment. Select Self-employment income and expenses and enter your information. Self-employment is subject to SE taxes (Social Security and Medicare) and therefore, a Schedule SE will also be prepared with your return assuming your business has a profit.
If you are not self-employed, then you can enter your 1099-NEC as other income. To enter your 1099-NEC as other income, follow these steps:
go to Income & Expenses,
scroll down the page to the last item Less Common Income,
select Miscellaneous income,
then from the list select Other reportable income.
you will have to enter the amount you earned plus a short description of the work you performed.
Other income will appear on line 8 of your Form 1040. To preview your Form 1040, follow these steps:
