If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2022 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

Note - If you have entered a Form 1099-MISC with income shown in box 7 of the form or a Form 1099-NEC with income in box 1, this would indicate to the program that you are self-employed, thereby requiring the use of the Self-Employed edition to report the income and expenses for your self-employment.

Either one of you was self-employed in some past year and you are still using that self-employed software, or you strayed into the software accidentally, or you entered something such as a 1099NEC that would require you to use the Self-Employed software.  If you do not have self-employment income-- or income earned as an independent contractor, then you can downgrade to a less expensive version of the software.  You will need to clear and start over----so you are going to lose anything you have entered so far.
