Return Rejected

My return was rejected for reason: IND-031-04. I filed my taxes for 2020 manually by mail and have still not received my refund. My AGI is likely not being accepted because of this reason. What can I do to move forward with 2021 return when it keeps saying my AGI is incorrect and not matching?

You can try to file with $0 to see if it will allow your return to be Accepted.  For more details about locating your AGI and how to file, please see this Help Article here.

ENTER 0 FOR AGI. The IRS took a long time last year to process 2020 returns so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
