Question

Searching form 1040 takes you to enter a 1099-Misc. The box descriptions do not align. In box 12, I have a letter "J" plus $$. Where do I enter this information?

We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify if you are looking at a W2 with a "J" in box 12?

You do not get a 1040.  You are filling out the 1040 by entering the forms into your return.  What form are you asking about?  A W2 or 1099R or some other 1099?

It sounds like you're looking at a W-2.

The entry in box 12 represents J: Non-taxable sick pay.

If this is your W-2, post box 12 as is, and there will be no tax consequence.
