Question

Should I answer with a YES on Federal page. "did either of you make money in any other state?" Does receiving a 1099-R considered a Yes here?

We receive a 1099-R from California and live in Colorado. The examples shown on this page show for living in one state and working in another which is not the case

No, your retirement income is reported in your Resident State, no matter where the payment is issued from.

 

It is not considered to be 'making money' in the sense of Earnings, Rental Income, etc.
