I'm an independent contractor licensed in California and I reside in Oregon.  I'm mostly retired but still do occasional work in California.  I always file a return in CA.  Last year I worked one day in Oregon.  When I entered my info into Turbo Tax Oregon the computation has me paying more in Oregon tax than I earned on that day.  Do I need to file an Oregon return?

    As a full year resident you need to file if your gross income is more than the amount​​t shown in the link below:

    In addition, file a return if:

    • You're required to file a federal return.
    • You had $1 or more of Oregon income tax withheld from your wages (does not apply to you if retired)
