Why is the total tax due more than the percentage indicated for the tax bracket?

Are you self-employed? You pay income tax according to your tax bracket, but you also pay 15.3% self-emplyment tax.

Thank you.

I am filing as an independent marketing consultant and received 1099-NEC and some unemployment income.  Semi-retired. After deductions, the taxable income was $8k change but total tax due is $2.9K. So, was wondering!
