Where do I include strike pay in TurboTax 2024? It's paid from the Union and is not self employment, but is reported on a 1099-NEC.

I understand that it is income, but when I go to 1099-NEC, my situation isn't listed. This is not self employment pay. It is pay for being on strike.

Reporting IRS form 1099-NEC income as something other than Schedule C income is not common.

To report an IRS form 1099-NEC as other income, follow these steps:

    • Down the left side of the screen, select Federal.
    • Down the left side of the screen, select Wages & Income.
    • Click the down arrow to the right of Less Common Income.
    • Click to the right of Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
    • Click to the right of Other reportable income.
    • At the screen Other Taxable Income, enter the description and the amount of income.

    The entry will be reported:

    • on line 8z of Schedule 1 of the Federal 1040 tax return, and
    • on line 8 of the Federal 1040 tax return.

When you enter the Form 1099-NEC, on the page that says Does one of these uncommon situations apply? choose the option that says This is not money earned as an employee or self-employed person...

Then the income will show as "Other Income" on your tax return.

When I click on "Add a 1099-NEC" it asks what kind of income it is.  My choices are:

    Self employment income
    Farm income
    Hobby
    Lawsuit settlement
Medicaid waiver payments that qualify as difficulty of care
Income that should've been reported on a W-2

I don't see the screen you referenced.  Am I in the wrong screen?
