Why does TurboTax show the same amount on last year (2021) 1099-NEC as 1099-MISC when I did not do contract work for anyone else?

I've never even seen this form before and it's asking if I received one.  If I didn't receive any, then why are my amounts from 1099-MISC showing on last year's 1099-NEC?

We'd love to help you complete your tax return but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

    • Is this only information on the 2021 tax return, or is there something on the 2022 tax return?
    • Which of the forms are you unfamiliar with?
    • Did you do contract work in 2022?

Form 1099-MISC is used in the reporting of payments that are not subject to self-employment tax – things like rents and prizes. Form 1099-NEC is used for reporting Non-Employee Compensation that is most likely subject to self-employment tax.
