Question

Why is TT for tax year 2020, not allowing me to put in 2020 self- employ income for the self-employ sick leave credit? I select "No, use 2020"

TT (for tax year 2020) says, " Once you've found your 2019 net self-employment income, select Yes, I want to use my 2019 net income
 * Enter your 2019 net self-employment income
 * Select Continue and watch your refund monitor

If your refund goes up (or the amount you owe goes down), you'll benefit from using your 2019 income and you can keep going on your taxes. You can also keep going if the refund monitor stays the same.

If your refund goes down (or you owe more), go back and select No, I want to use my 2020 net income."

But it keeps asking what the 2019 number is, and auto filling it. How do I get my 2020 figure in there and accepted?

You may need to delete the number in the box for 2019 before you check the "No" button.

To check this entry:

  1. Open (continue) your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. Search for earned income credit and select the Jump to link at the top of the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Do you want to check if your 2019 income will increase your EITC? screen and delete the amount in the 2019 earned income box, then check "No" and Continue.
