A corporation took over our clinic. I paid a lawyer to review my contract. Can I claim the consultant fee and where do I claim it.

I hired a lawyer to review the new contract from a new owner. I am a vet.

Yes, you are able to claim legal fees.

Steps to claim legal fees:

Sign in to your tax return
On the top-right hand side click the magnifying glass that says "find"
Type in Employment expenses in the search bar and click "Go"
Click "yes" on the employment expenses page
Next, select the bubble that applies to you and click continue
Select other employment expenses and click continue
On this page enter your legal fees where it says Accounting and Legal Fees
