Question

Can I split moving expenses carried forward from a previous year (2020) with my spouse or does it have to be all on my return?

Thank you for your question. Yes you can. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows couples to split moving expenses. If you split expenses between you and your spouse, only claim the portion of expenses that your partner isn’t claiming. It’s usually beneficial for the higher-earning spouse claim all moving expenses. For more information, please our TurboTax article When and How You Can Claim Moving Expenses in Canada
