If you are a contractor and are claiming expenses you would enter them as a regular self-employed person.
If you hired a subcontractor then you enter this information under "Inventory" Cost of goods. Also, you may need to enter it under paid wages if you hired others.
You can report material expenses in the inventory section as cost of goods sold and $0 for beginning and ending inventory, or in the expenses section as supplies.
