Claim of right of repayment

If I paid back a bonus that I received in 2022 in 2024 I did a claim of right to deduct that payback on my 2024 federal taxes. I lived in two states in 2024, I paid it back when I was in VA then moved to NC. Turbotax is forcing me to claim it on NC taxes even though I already claimed it on VA taxes. Is there a way to fix this?

I have one solution without knowing if you took the itemized deduction or the credit. See What is a claim of right repayment?

One solution is:

  1. file your federal and VA. 
  2. save your returns, download to your pc.
  3. remove the IRC and file the NC.

My NC part year is not pulling it over and I purposely put in a larger amount.

I did enter zero in the program where it asked about claim of right repayment. Without knowing your full situation, I can't recreate it.
