Do I have to pay GA tax on wages from GA university for teaching remotely while residing in CA for medical reasons? Was not physically in GA -  taught remotely from CA.

Essentially, can my GA university wages be considered income from CA source (as I was teaching from CA)? And since I was also residing in CA at this time, both residency and source are CA and hence tax only needs to be paid to CA (nothing to GA)

"Essentially get refund for last 6 months tax paid to GA, and pay tax to CA for these 6 months. Is this correct?"

Yes, that's correct.

Yes, if you worked remotely in California, you would not be required to file a Georgia nonresident tax return.

Thank you very much. I am actually a part-year resident for 2024 with first 6 months having lived and worked in-person in GA, then last 6 months having lived in CA and taught remotely for the GA university from CA. My W2 lists all 12 months wages as GA income and GA tax was withheld on it (no CA wages listed or tax withheld).

So I'll be filing as part-year resident for GA as well as CA: first 6 months as GA resident with GA sourced income, and last 6 months as CA resident with CA sourced income. Essentially get refund for last 6 months tax paid to GA, and pay tax to CA for these 6 months. Is this correct?
