Were you required to file a federal return?  DC filing requirements  Are you a US resident that files Form 1040 or a nonresident that files Form 1040-NR?  

 

Can I file a 1040 or do I have to file a 1040-NR? 

Does TurboTax handle Form 1040-NR for nonresident aliens?
