Must I file state taxes in a state where I sold a home if there are no capital gains taxes per my federal return, I was a non resident?

No, you would not be required to file a nonresident Louisiana return if there was no capital gain on the sale.

Nonresident individuals who earn net income from property located in La., from services rendered in La., from business transacted in La., or from sources within La. are required to file a Louisiana income tax return.  Who is a taxpayer required to file a Louisiana income tax return?

It depends on the state- some states require you to file if you have gross income; some states do not consider the taxable income.

Thanks for your answer.  I want to ensure I am using the correct words in my question.  There were proceeds on the home sale but below the amount that triggered capital gains taxes when I entered the info in my federal return.  When I drafted the Louisiana state taxes base upon my federal info it says $0 due/refund.  So, does this mean o don’t need to file Louisiana state return.  Thanks in advance for the clarification.
