I work & live in Alabama. I did some work in Georgia but not very much. Do I have to file a tax return in Georgia?

Georgia state income was $6.343.80 and I paid in $284.93 in Georgia state tax.

Yes, the Georgia filing requirements for non-residents state that if you work in Georgia or have income from a Georgia source and you are required to file a Federal return, then you are required to file a Georgia state tax return.

 

The only income that will be taxed in Georgia will be the income that you earned by working in that state.  

 

Prepare your non-resident Georgia return first.  Then prepare your Alabama resident return and watch for the option to claim a credit for taxes paid to another state as you go through the Alabama return.
