Question

if the taxpayer died in April do I state that they did not live in the US for 6 months?

In MY INFO you can enter that the taxpayer passed away--and enter when that occurred.  Go very slowly and carefully through the screens in MY INFO.

If you are talking about a dependent,  they would be considered living with you for more than six months if they died during the year.
