New York State Taxes due - Now have a home work location in PA

Back in 2023 my site closed and I no longer have an office in NY and I live in PA.  This is no longer an "act of convenience", I must work at home. On January 1st 2024, I was allowed to change my work location from the NY office to a PA Home office, the understanding is that my total income would now be PA based,  and my withholding was supposed be adjusted accordingly.  My W2s are still showing NY state wages (box 16) but no withholding was taken out on this amount.

My HR office led me to believe that since I now have a PA work location code, I would only be responsible for PA income tax.

Up until 2024 I have been filing the NYS Non-Resident form and claiming my work income only and all other income (interest, dividends, etc) in PA without issue.

It seems my W2 is not matching what I would expect with my new work location.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

If payroll will issue a corrected w2, your problem would be solved.

If not, keep all documentation relating to this and wait for NY to ask why you didn't file a tax return.

Change your w2 entry to zero for NY in the program. You did not live or work in NY and had no NY source income,  you do not need to file a NY return.
