I worked in MA and received W2 State Tax for MA and also received 2 seperate W2 for (CT) with same Employer State ID and 2 different Stage Wage and State Tax.

for e.g.  I received total of 3 seperate W2 as below

First W2 for State of MA show Employer State ID:  abc,   State Wages:  37425,  State Tax:  1860

Second W2 for State of CT show Employer State ID:  xyz  State Wages:  35051,  State Tax:  2450

Third W2 for State of CT show Employer State ID:  xyz,  State Wages: 35030,  State Tax: 690

How should I Enter W2 information for CT as it only allows 1 entry per state and I received two seperate W2 for CT for same Employer ID with 2 different amount.

To better assist you, I have a few questions.

    - Is the amount in box 1 of your W-2 the same on all of the W-2s?

    - Are boxes 1-14 only completed for one of the W-2s? If these boxes are completed for all of the W-2, is it the same information on each?

    - Did your employer change payroll companies in 2024?

    - Did you work in MA all year?

    Hi thank you for reply

Yes the Amount in Box 1 is same for All W2

The amount for Box 1 to 11 is also same for All W2

However, the Amount in Box 12 to 14 is different for All 3 State W2 as below:

    For First W2 for State of MA (Box):  12a - C = $6,  12b -AA = $3741, 14 is blank

    For Second W2 for State of CT(Box):  12a - C = $5,  12b -AA = $3463, 12c - DD = $15 and 14 = $302  CTPL

    For Third W2 for State of CT(Box):  12a - C = $5,  12b -AA = $3502, 12c  is blank and 14 is blank

I think I need to use Second W2 for CT where (Box) 14 is populated.   The Total State Wages for CT W2 with box 14 populated and Stage Wages for MA W2 matches with Amount in Box 1.  Also I am thinking from both CT W2 - I need to add State Income Tax together to when entering amount for CT W2

If the EIN number in box b is the same and you work in more than 1 state or city, sometimes they will give you another W2 with the extra state information on it and the top part the same or not filled in.  If this is the case, list one W-2 but include both state or local  taxes on it.  It will let you type in more than one line for boxes 15-20.  Don't add the boxes together.

Same for boxes 12 & 14 if there is no room on the first W2 they can give you another W2 with the extra boxes on it.  So list them all on 1 W2.  For box 12 just enter it in the next row or box.  It doesn't have to match the box 12a-d etc.
