SC Two wage earner credit

In order to qualify for the two wage earner credit in SC, there must be income reported for each person on the jointly filed return.  

You mentioned that your wife works a job.  If her income is reported on a W-2, then that would count as her income.  

If the small business is showing an overall profit, then take a look at who that income is being attributed to on the Federal return.  When you first enter information about a Schedule C business, one of the questions is who owns the business.  If it shows that you own the business, then the Schedule C income should be attributed to you and you should qualify for the credit.  

If you have checked these things and still need help to understand the situation, you can provide a diagnostic copy of your tax data file so someone can take a closer look.  The diagnostic file will not contain personally identifiable information, only numbers related to your tax forms.

Use these steps if you are using TurboTax Online:

• Sign in to your account and be sure you are in your tax return.
• Select Tax Tools in the menu to the left.
• Select Tools.
• Select Share my file with agent.
• A pop-up message will appear, select OK to send the sanitized diagnostic copy to us.
• Post the token number here. 

If you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax, use these steps:

• Select Online at the top of the screen.
• Select Send Tax File to Agent.
• Click OK.
• Post the token number here.
