My GA state tax return (GA Form 500) asks me to attach federal Form 1040 Pages 1 and 2, and Schedule 1. So, in this situation, should I sign Form 1040 attached to my state tax return (GA Form 500)? Or, I just leave the signature area blank on Form 1040 mailed to the state tax return? Thanks.
There isn't clear guidance on this, but I don't think it is required to be signed. Having said that, it doesn't hurt anything to sign it and I usually have my clients sign it just so it doesn't hold anything up.
