TT Home and Business 2024: Estimating Taxes for Federal and State

Hi,

Does anyone know if the data that is adjusted for the following year, i.e., 2025, to estimate taxes at the Federal level, is then applied to state level estimates?  That is, does TT require that state level estimates be adjusted in that section of TT?  For example, if I modify expected W2 income or deductions in the Federal form, will these adjustments then flow into the state estimates form?  Thanks!

Yes, you would  enter your state's estimated tax payments in the Federal section of TurboTax under "Deductions and Credits" in the section "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid." This will flow to your state return.

    Hi,

I think my question was not clear.  My question has to do with estimating taxes for 2025, and not about where to enter my quarterly estimated taxes I had already paid for the 2024 tax year.  So under the (Federal) Personal > "Other Tax Situations" tab > "Other Tax Forms" > "Form W-4 and Estimated Taxes" > Estimated Taxes for 2025, is where TT provides fields for 2024 vs 2025 to allow making adjustments that will translate into estimated tax payments in 2025.  So if I make 2025 adjustments that are different than 2024 numbers, will this flow through to the state equivalent for estimating 2025 taxes?  Thanks.

Yes, the adjustments you make to your income and deductions in the federal section for estimated payments for 2025 should flow through to the state section.
