How do I enter the volunteer firefighter deduction /credit for people who live in the state of Delaware? It didn’t ask me any questions and I clicked through every single tax break column and could not find it.

As you go through your Delaware state return, look for the screen titled, Eligible for other Delaware Credits?

Answer 'yes' on that page.  Click Continue on the next page.  Then you should see a screen titled Volunteer Firefighter's Credit? where you can enter your information.

Ok I’ll check in a minute. How much can you enter for it? Or is it just a yes or no question? I’m doing my mother in laws taxes for them and her husband gets the credit. They usually go to an account but the account and said they can do it at home their self and save a lot of money.

For the year 2024, taxpayers can claim up to $1000 through the Volunteer Firefighter's Credit. To input this information into TurboTax, complete your Delaware tax return and answer "Yes" when asked if you qualify for any other Delaware credits. Then, proceed to the question about the Volunteer Firefighter's Credit and enter $1000 as the credit amount. Remember to also enter the 2-digit Fire Company number found on your membership card.

We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?
