Question

What do I enter in the Solar electric costs box if I am paying for my solar panels monthly?

We installed solar panels in 2024 so I'd like to take advantage of the tax credit, but like most, we pay for these monthly and didn't buy them outright. How do I enter this into Turbotax correctly?

    You enter the total cost to include installation for the solar credit.

     

    To enter Home Energy Credits -

    Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    Click on Deductions and Credit
    Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
    Under Your Home
    On Home Energy Credits, click the start or update button

     

    Or enter energy improvements in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to energy improvements
