This is the second year where I have ended up owing money on my tax return. I am an Illinois resident but only earn income in Wisconsin (I am a teacher there). I do babysit on the side to earn extra income, which is reported as well. Can anyone help me understand why I owe so much (over 1,400 in Illinois and $400 in Wisconsin) and how to prevent this in the future?
