Why does it keep telling me zero deduction on state tax even though on my W-2 they deduct my state tax?

    State tax deductions are not the same as state tax paid. Each state is unique with the deductions allowed.

    Follow these steps:

    • Preview your state return. 
    • See if the state tax paid is showing. 
    • See if your state return has any deductions.
